BROOKFIELD BUYS BUILDING IN WASHINGTON
The Brookfield Properties
Corporation, one of Lower Manhattan's largest office landlords, said yesterday
that it had agreed to pay $157.5 million for a 12-story office building two
blocks away from the White House to enter the Washington market. Brookfield is
buying the 383,000-square-foot building from the Union Labor Life Insurance
Company, a unit of Ullico, Brookfield's chief executive, Richard B. Clark, said
in a conference call with investors and analysts. The building is at 1625 Eye
Street.
