The United Automobile Workers has
sued Ullico, a union-owned insurer, demanding that it release a report by
former Gov. James R. Thompson of Illinois into accusations of improper stock
trading by board members, a report the board voted to keep secret.
The U.A.W., which owns 150,000
shares of Ullico stock, filed its federal suit in Detroit. A federal grand jury
in Washington, the Labor Department and the Securities and Exchange Commission
are investigating stock trades in which several Ullico board members made more
than $200,000.
